Authors and Publishers

Overview

If you are an Author, Publisher, or Distributor who wishes to have your materials sold through SMB Books, this is the place for you! The process is very simple.

( Important note: While we use the word "books," we intend to offer a wide variety of products. In fact, pretty much anything that has value for SMB consultants is welcome. )

Here's how the program works:

  •  You register with us as a Vendor

  •  You submit one or more products for resale
     -- and send us five copies of the product

  •  We pass these review copies to members of our Editorial Board

  •  The Editorial Board will provide book reviews and recommendations

  •  Once a product receives a recommendation from the Editorial Board, we will agree to place that product in our store.

  •  We then submit a Purchase Order to you for some quantity of product

  •  We do not accept product on consignment. We will pay you for the products we order on terms of net 30 days.

  •  It is our intention to keep in stock the amount of your product that we expect to sell in one month

The goal, of course, is to sell products!

So once you're enrolled, we're going to do what it takes to market the site, market your products, help you make money.

We believe this model is superior to a consignment model (for example, a larger international online bookseller). With this model, you get paid up front. If we can't sell your product, we're stuck with it.

You don't have to worry about inventory: We order from you and we pay you. Done.

We want to make SBS Books the greatest collection of white papers available to the SMB Consultant.

We have the HaaS white paper, which has been very well received.

But we need more. We need YOUR white paper.

How does your company succeed at . . . [some task]?

If you think your techniques and experience might be helpful to the larger community, we'd like to help you spread the word.

Here's how it works:

  •  You propose a white paper.
  •  We'll let you know if we think it's interesting.
  •  You submit the white paper.
  •  We have our Editorial Board review it.
  •  If they like it, we'll agree with you on a price and post the white paper.
  •  When others buy your white paper, you earn money.

Q. Is there a cost?

A. Yes, of course. In order to process the application, set up your account, etc., we're going to expend some labor. So we charge a $49 setup fee to get started.

To be honest, this will also reduce the number of folks who sign up and never participate. If you sell almost anything, you'll earn back your registration fee.

Q. Do I have to agree to make you the sole distributor?

A. No, of course not. We want to make money by selling your products. We encourage you to have multiple outlets for your products. We're just one. If we don't make you more money, withdraw from the program and we'll still be friends!
