FAQ
Q. Is there a
cost?
A. Yes, of
course. In order to process the application, set up your account,
etc., we're going to expend some labor. So we charge a $49 setup fee
to get started.
To be honest, this will also reduce the number of
folks who sign up and never participate. If you sell almost
anything, you'll earn back your registration fee.
Q. Do I have to
agree to make you the sole distributor?
A. No, of course
not. We want to make money by selling your products. We encourage
you to have multiple outlets for your products. We're just one. If
we don't make you more money, withdraw from the program and we'll
still be friends!
Q. I'm already an
established Author / Publisher: Why should I send you review copies
for your Editorial Board?
A. You might not
need to. The goal of the Editorial Board is to have a small group of
people from the SMB Consulting community agree that a product is
worth putting out to the community. You may have already proven
that.
But the Editorial Board is also given the task of
writing reviews of the books/products they endorse. So, if we get
five members of the board to review your product and they all like
it, then it will hit the book store with five positive reviews.
If you still believe that you should not have to send
in five copies, that's fine. Contact us via the Contact Page and
we'll probably agree with you.
Q. I signed up as
a resellers: When should I send my books?
A. Whoa there!
Unlike some big national online bookstores, we don't sell on
consignment. That means don't send us anything we haven't asked
for. When the time comes, we'll send you a purchase order.
Please do not do send us anything for which you have
not received a purchase order!!!
Q. Why do you
need my Tax ID Number? What is that?
A. If you're a
U.S. tax payer, you have a federal tax ID. Number. If you're a sole
proprietor, this is your Social Security Number. If you're a
Corporation or some other entity, you have an EIN or Employer
Identification Number. Whatever you put on your Federal Tax forms,
that's what we need.
Why? Because Hank the tax man says so. Legally, we
have to report certain distributions through 1099 reports at the end
of the year so Big Brother can make sure you pay your fair share. It
may not be fair, but we need to do our part. So we will not pay
anyone more than $600 without getting this information.
Q. How many books
can I expect to sell?
A. That depends a
lot on you. How much will you be tooting your horn, contributing to
the community, advertising, doing seminars, and creating a "buzz"
about your product? If you can get people to test-drive your
product, and it has substance to offer, then you could sell a lot.
If you rely on this one site to give you enough exposure to sell
1,000 books, you'll probably be dissappointed.
Q. How do I get
started?
A. We thought
you'd never ask. It's easy. Go to the
Authors/Publishers page. Read the Reseller Agreement. Then click
on "Sign Me Up!" to register as
a reseller.
